YOSEMITE WEST — November 2, 2026. Mariposa County’s special-district finance study says Yosemite West’s current road maintenance assessment is $8 per month and does not fund a reserve for snow-clearing equipment or emergency road repairs.
What the existing charge funds
The Yosemite West Maintenance District oversees local roads as well as water and wastewater service. The county describes a remote high-elevation community with winter maintenance needs and long travel distances for county operations crews.
Winter weather adds costs
Snow can obstruct streets and private access, while replacing plow equipment is a capital expense. The county study notes the district’s operating staff may travel more than 100 miles on a round trip to reach the area.
A study is not a tax increase
The document identifies potential need to adjust funding but does not by itself approve a new charge. Owners should review any mailed rate notices and county hearing records and distinguish public roads from privately maintained driveways.
